For my degree project I wanted to explore fantasy creatures through design. My original idea for this concept was to design a book which would teach viewers about various mythical creatures. My next idea was to design a book that compared portrayals of the creatures throughout different media such as shows, movies, and video games.

For these ideas I spent a lot of time designing simplified imagery of the creatures. The book ideas I had were not working out the way I planned, but the imagery had been coming together well. I then decided to shift the idea to designing posters about why fantasy is important to people.
I did not want to design a usual printed poster. So, I learned to upload my own designs into a Cricut Explore die-cutting machine. I eventually moved away from typography and began focusing on image instead. As I continued experimenting with my designs on the Cricut Explore I began exploring with 3 dimensional shapes. I began layering colored vellum underneath openings in the lanterns and using different lights under the shapes. After deciding on color changing lights I officially decided on the idea of designing fantasy night lights.
